  I do not want to give a bad rating to what appears like a very decent little business, but I was disappointed in the product at the Chester location. Having purchased Julien's breads and pastries from the Halifax Farmer's market and local grocers, I expected the Chester location to be amazing (or at least good). On three occasions I have been let down - the last crushed my heart a little. The croissant aux amandes (my go-to for any bakery) was not very fresh and the oatcake was actually floppy/bendy (I am aware these are not a French pastry, but they ARE regional to this area!). The Pâtisserie/ café atmosphere was a further letdown by coffee that was, *I believe* reheated or "the dredges". The girl went to the back for well over 2 minutes to get my coffee and it was less than an hour till closing, so I figure this to be the case (and no, I'm not being over critical - I spent a year in a coffee roastery before becoming a bakery myself!). It was bad - real bad. I have nothing negative to say about the boulangerie part/products (they are fantastic, actually) - but the Pâtisserie at this location was a let down.

  Do not miss this place! Yummy food only scratches the surface of this cafe's charm. The friendliness and hospitality of the people in this particular location made this a world class experience. Linda welcomed us with open arms, inviting my family over to a table and conversing with us as we all watched the World Cup. She seemed to know each person who stopped in personally. A lovely place to just grab a quick bite, an even lovelier place to sit and chat for a while.

  The great smells of fresh coffee and just as fresh baked wares begs you into the door ,the fine people with in beg you to linger longer . A good place to spend a little time with a few chatty friends .
